Zoe
Hi friends, thanks for visiting our site! I’m Zoe, born in Maryland, and have lived there most of my life, besides a few years that I was living in New York City. I am a performer, singer, actor, music teacher, and now, traveler.
Believe it or not, I never liked the outdoors as a kid. I was never a “nature person” and hiking seemed hard and, honestly, boring. My family didn’t have the means to travel much, so we didn’t do much exploring outside of Maryland, besides when we would visit my cousins in NYC. My first time out of the country was when I was 26, and I just recently went camping for the first time at 31. I am a perfect example of the fact that it is never too late to start traveling and trying new things!
I went to Israel when I was 26 and it changed my life. I fell in love with going some place I had never been, where the people spoke a different language, ate different food, and had such an old history. I felt like my best self traveling, I felt braver and more ready to try new things and step out of my comfort zone. After that bite from the travel bug I have never looked back. I went to Europe next, and then Europe again. And then Covid hit…That was when I decided it might be cool to check out my own country and OMG DID IT NOT DISAPPOINT! I can admit that I am now fully obsessed with trying to see everywhere in the world, and plan on making it happen!

JK
Hey everyone, thanks for checking us out! I’m JK, a performing artist currently based on the East Coast.
I love nature and food and learning and really just like, a whole bunch of stuff. Growing up, my family loved to travel and found creative ways to make it happen, like when we traded houses with another family (and this was well before Airbnb.) When we were home, I was always exploring and playing in the woods and creek near my house. I would watch cooking shows and “Wild America” on PBS.
My passion for travel took another step as an adult. It was no longer a given for me to be able to go on these great trips (oh, how good it was.) It was now up to me to plan the trip, or not… Well, I started looking for all sorts of ways to travel as much as possible. Planning backpacking trips, figuring out how I might be able to live, study, travel and create abroad. It was now up to me where I went, and for how long (oh, how good it IS.)
I think curiosity is such a valuable quality, and if there’s any way I can help others get excited about something, or help them achieve a vision they’re working towards, I am happy to share whatever tips and experiences I have. Whether you are going to some far off destination or just into a nearby patch of woods, there is so much to discover and learn and experience out there, and it really is for all of us!

Us as a pair
JK and I met when we were in a musical together. We saw each other’s curly hair from across the room, and there was no way we weren’t going to fall in love.
Our first trip out of the country together was Cozumel, Mexico, where we both went SCUBA diving for the first time. Since then, we have gone on countless adventures together and have picked up some new skills along the way, including getting into mushroom foraging and becoming SCUBA certified!
Being performers and loving to travel, it can be tricky balancing the budget, but we have found ways to make it work. We believe it is important for everyone to experience things outside of what they are used to, the feeling of going somewhere or trying something new, and we want to help as many people as possible be able to have wonderful adventures. JK is a nature guru and I love planning so much that we decided to start Inspired by Travel. We want to share as many tips as we can so that whether it’s a hike in the woods, or a big out of the country trip, that you are well prepared, able to have an amazing experience, and can save some money too!
